Why hello there! I’m Sarah and this is my humble blog. The silly man in the photo with me to the left is my wonderful husband Andy. He’s not (always) as crazy as he looks, but he’s the one who enables me to let go. I keep him in line, he keeps me out of line. It’s a good balance overall. 
This little blog was started because “I have a dream”…I truly have a dream of self sufficiency. Of needing nothing but God, my husband, and the resources to make something out of nothing. I have a dream that this dream will rub off onto others. Onto you. I dream it will feel within reach and possible and enjoyable to you. That you’ll feel you can take on anything. That DIY won’t mean just a project to you, that it would mean a lifestyle. An independent, rewarding, green, old fashioned, simple, do it yourself lifestyle.
It’s not just about crafts and home improvement projects. It’s about…being capable. Being able to do these things all for myself. When I see a room or an outfit in a magazine, I want to know HOW to make that for myself. Not out of the expensive name-brand suggestions a magazine gives me. That’s too easy…and too expensive. I want to create it out of seemingly nothing. Out of supplies, tools, hard work, sweat, tears, loud music, and most of all perseverance.
It all started because, well, I’m not rich. I don’t have the money to buy those expensive but pretty things. Yet, I am a Taurus, so I tend to have an eye for the more pretty things that almost always tend to be too expensive. However, I also have something inside me, that aside from the money, finds a particular satisfaction in creating something from scratch. Making something out of a bunch of stuff on a table – a bunch of supplies.
This….is my journey. This blog is not just me teaching you what I’ve learned. This is me learning along the way too. A lot of things are new to me but I like to jump in head on. 
Of all the things I’ve learned so far, the most important I can tell you is that you can do anything. Absolutely anything you want to do is possible through God. He can make anything possible for you and I tell you this from first hand experience. We bought our house about 2 years ago and were married about 1 year ago. Since we’ve moved into this house we have (and are still going through) some pretty major things in our life. I won’t elaborate, we all have stuff we’re going through. But throughout it all God has managed to take care of us – financially, emotionally, relationally – and He’s kept our marriage very strong. We are strong because of Him. We are in this house still because of Him. We are surviving because of Him. I am sitting here writing this because of Him.
I know for some people it’s hard to hear these kind of bios. But after all He’s done and continues to do in my life and others, I cannot go through this entire “about me” without mentioning Him. Because I am nothing without Him. Nothing. But with Him, I can do anything, and this blog is proof of that.
