I’m going to be starting a “Trends for Less Tuesday” series. This is going to be so much fun! Every week I’ll be showing you some affordable options for the latest trends; and then, if possible, I’ll be showing you a DIY version! How fun this is going to be. I can’t wait to get started.
For the first trends for less round, I’ve chosen the glass ball lamps trend. This is really hot right now and is so versatile. It can be used in contemporary, shabby chic, traditional, retro, and so many other types of rooms. It’s very pretty and adds that extra sparkle. However, it can be super expensive! Here are some more affordable alternatives I’ve found:
1) lampsplus.com – Our first option comes to us from lampsplus.com and is so pretty. It’s actually made of acrylic, but still looks pretty chic. It has 4 balls that get smaller all the way to the top. Shade is included. $69.95 (on sale, original $119.00)
2) jcpenny – Next we have one from JCPenny. I love how this one has the two pulls – so pretty! According to the website this one is actual crystal balls, so a huge steal! Shade is included. $69.95 (on super sale, original $160.00!)
3) eBay – This one I found on eBay. It has four stacked gradually smaller crystal balls. It also includes the shade. After this auction is up, try searching for things like “glass ball lamp” or “crystal ball lamp” for great deals. Just keep an eye on the sellers rating, how many ratings they have, etc. Also be sure to calculate in the shipping with the cost of the item! $99.95 (free shipping!)
4) walmart – This one is a little more contemporary with the square base. It features four same sized glass balls and includes the shade. When I put this list together it was available, but right now it says it isn’t. Keep an eye on it though, they might get more in stock (hopefully at this price!) $49.54
I hope you can find one you like that’s affordable. These are so expensive but so pretty. So I think I’ll be trying to make this myself. I’ll hopefully be putting up the tutorial for next week so subscribe to our feed and keep an eye out!
[UPDATE - 5/5/2010] – As of now, you can also find these for the amazing price of $39.95 at HomeGoods! So stop by there if you have one around you!
