I just tried this and I modified it just a little so that I could add machine stitching. I top-stitched the right side with thread that matched the jeans exactly and you can’t even it. It looks great.

This was a very helpful article. I really enjoyed it, and found the pictures to be helpful. Very easy to follow and clearly written instructions. Thank you very much for the post. I am going to replace a zipper in a pair of jeans. I will let you know how it turns out.
